Step 1: Spot Treat the stain

Grab an old toothbrush and a mixture of warm water and a liquid laundry detergent. Gently brush the stained area with the brush, working detergent into material. Be sure not to apply too much pressure or scrub too hard, as this could cause damage to the fabric.

Step 2: Soak Stain

Fill a bucket or sink with warm water and some non-bleaching detergent. Place the stained clothing in the mixture and let it soak for at least 15 minutes. This will help loosen the stain and make it easier to remove.

Step 3: Rinse and Wash

When you’re done soaking, rinse off the clothing with clean cool water. Then, place item in the washing machine on a cycle appropriate for the fabric. For extra stubborn stains, you may want to add a stain remover to the wash load.

Step 4: Hang to Dry

Once the item has finished washing, hang it up to dry. It’s important not to put the item in the dryer until you’re sure that all of the wine stain has been completely removed. If the stain still lingers, repeat steps 1-3 until it’s completely gone.
