Step 1: Blot the Stain

Start by blotting the area with a clean cloth or paper towel to remove excess moisture and any remaining wine. Make sure not to rub fabric as this may spread stain even further.

Step 2: Dilute with Water

Mix one part mild laundry detergent with two parts cold water, and using a clean cloth or sponge, gently dab the mixture onto the stained area. Do not rub, just blot.

Step 3: Apply White Vinegar

Mix one part white vinegar with one part cold water and apply to the stained area with a cloth or sponge. Gently blot area until the stain starts to lighten. Do not rub or scrub the fabric as this may cause further damage.

Step 4: Rinse and Repeat if Necessary

Rinse the stained area in cold water and then repeat the above steps until the stain is completely removed. If the stain persists, apply a commercial stain remover specifically designed for white wine stains.

Prevention

To prevent white wine stains from occurring in the future, consider using a white wine stain guard spray before wearing or washing the garments. This will help protect the fabric from staining.
