When dealing with white wine stains, it’s important to act quickly. Start by blotting up any excess liquid with a clean paper towel or cloth. Do not rub or scrub—this could set the stain. Next, mix a solution of cold water and a mild detergent, such as dish soap. Use a sponge or cloth to dab at stain with this solution. Once the stain is treated, rinse the area with cold water and repeat the process if necessary.
If the stain still remains after this process, consider using a vinegar-and-water solution. Start by mixing equal parts of white vinegar and cold water. Then, apply a small amount of the solution to stain and allow it to sit for a few minutes. After a few minutes, rinse the area with cold water and repeat the process if necessary.
If the stain persists, mix a solution of 1 teaspoon of glycerin and ½ cup of cold water. Apply this solution to the stain and let sit for at least 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, gently rub the area with a cloth soaked in the solution and rinse in cold water. Repeat the process if neccessary.
Finally, it’s important to remember that different fabrics react differently to cleaning solutions. Before attempting to remove a white wine stain from pongee fabric, test the solution on a small, hidden area of fabric. This will help you determine if the solution is safe to use without causing further damage to the fabric.
