Using a clean white cloth or paper towel, gently dab the stain until it is absorbed. Don't scrub or rub as this will only spread the stain and make it harder to remove.
Once you've blotted the excess liquid, place the stained area in cold water for an hour or two. This will help lift the stain out of the fabric.
Now it's time to get to work removing the stain. You can use either a commercial stain remover, such as Tide Stain Remover , or a homemade solution. If you prefer to go the DIY route, simply mix equal parts white vinegar and baking soda. Then, soak a clean cloth in the mixture and apply it to the stained area. Let sit for 10 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
