One of the most common stains on clothing and other materials is that of white wine. While it seems simple enough to just rinse away or blot off the liquid, this often doesn't work very well in practice. If you're looking to clean your favorite purse or handbag of a white wine stain, here are 7 steps to follow for optimal results.

1. Blot it off

The first step in cleaning a white wine stain from your handbag or purse is to carefully blot area with a damp cloth. The goal here is to remove as much of the liquid as possible. Do not rub the cloth against the material, as this will drive the wine deeper into the fabric and make stain even more difficult to remove.

2. Apply Club Soda

Once you've done your best to blot away the liquid, the next step is to apply club soda to the stained area. Let the solution soak into the fabric, and then gently scrub the stained area with a soft brush. This should help to loosen the stain and make it easier to remove.

3. Wash with Soap and Water

If you still have stubborn spots remaining, it's time to break out the soap and water. Try washing the stained area with a mild detergent and warm water, then rinse and air dry. If all else fails, you may need to repeat this step or try a stronger detergent.

4. Use Ammonia

If the stain still persists, you can try using a mixture of 1 part ammonia to 4 parts water. Make sure to test a small area of your handbag or purse with this solution first to make sure it won't cause any damage.

5. Apply Vinegar

If the previous steps haven't been successful, you can try applying white distilled vinegar to stained area. Let the vinegar sit on the stain for a few minutes, then rinse off with cold water and blot dry.

6. Wash with Detergent

If stain is still present, you can try washing handbag or purse with a mild laundry detergent and warm water. Rinse the area well and allow it to air dry.

7. Apply an Oxidizing Cleaner

If all else fails, you can try an oxidizing cleaner such as hydrogen peroxide or bleach. Be sure to use this solution sparingly and according to package instructions, as using too much or using it incorrectly could result in discoloration or other damage to your handbag or purse.
