Tip #1: Blot with Club Soda

The first step is to quickly blot up any excess liquid with a sponge or cloth. Next, pour club soda onto the stain and lightly dab it with a fresh cloth. Avoid rubbing the spot in a circular motion, as this could spread the stain.

Tip #2: Apply Shaving Cream or Foam Detergent

If the stain remains, attempt to treat it with shaving cream or a foam detergent. You may need to apply the product several times before the stain lifts.

Tip #3: Pretreat with a Stain Remover

If further cleaning is required, use a gentle stain remover to pretreat the area. Follow the instructions for mixing and applying the product and check with the manufacturer if there are special instructions for your type of handbag.

Tip #4: Wash in a Woolen Cycle

If your handbag is washable, set your machine to the woolen cycle and use a mild detergent. After taking the bag out of the wash, hang it upside-down somewhere to air dry.

Tip #5: Seek Professional Help

If DIY methods fail to remove the stain, professional help may be needed. Upholstery cleaners, dry cleaners, and leather goods specialists are trained to work with delicate fabrics and may be able to solve problem for you.
