What You Will Need

  • A bowl of warm water and detergent for soaking
  • White vinegar
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Cleaning cloths

Step-by Step Instructions

  1. Soak the stained hair ties in a bowl of warm water and detergent. Allow it to sit for 10 to 20 minutes.
  2. Take them out of the bowl and rinse with clean water. Then, blot dry with a clean cloth.
  3. Prepare a mixture of 1 tablespoon white vinegar and 2 tablespoons dishwashing liquid. Dip a cloth into the solution and rub onto the affected area.
  4. Rinse again with clean water. Blot dry the hair ties with another clean cloth.
  5. Once stains have been removed, leave the hair ties to air-dry.

Additional Tips

  • If the stains are especially stubborn, soak hair ties overnight in the solution.
  • It is best to test the cleaning solution on an inconspicuous part of the hair tie first before applying it onto the stained area.
  • Be sure not to rub too hard while rubbing the cleaning solution onto the stained area as this may cause damage to the hair tie.
