Dobby is a light and tightly-woven cotton fabric, often featuring a small geometric pattern. It is comfortable, durable and wrinkles well, but it also has its drawbacks — it is not as resistant to water and stains as some other fabrics. Luckily, there are ways that you can clean white wine stains from Dobby without causing any damage.
Tools and Materials Needed
- Cold water
- White vinegar
- Rubbing alcohol
- Clean cloth rags
- Towels
- A washing machine
Instructions
- As soon as you've noticed wine stain, immediately blot the area with a clean cloth rag or towel. Do not rub it in because this will spread the stain and make it more difficult to remove.
- Mix equal parts cold water and white vinegar, and pour it onto the stained area. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes before blotting it up with a dry cloth.
- If the stain is still visible, mix equal parts rubbing alcohol and cold water, and pour it onto the stained area. Let this mixture sit for a few minutes, then blot it up with a dry cloth.
- After you have blotted up liquid, place the item in the washing machine and wash it on the gentlest cycle, using the coldest temperature possible.
- After washing cycle is over, check the item to make sure the stain is gone. If it is still present, repeat steps 1 through 4.
Tips and Warnings
- Do not use warm or hot water, as this may set the stain instead of removing it.
- Do not use any kind of bleach or detergent, as this may cause discoloration of the fabric.
