What You'll Need

  • White wine vinegar
  • Stain remover
  • Cotton cloth
  • Warm water
  • Borax (optional)

Step by Step Guide to Removing Stain

  1. Mix ¼ cup of white wine vinegar with a gallon of warm water.
  2. Dip the stained area into the vinegar solution and let it soak for at least 10 minutes. This will help to loosen up the stain.
  3. Wring out any excess liquid and then dab stained area with a cotton cloth or paper towel. Do not rub stain as this will only make it worse.
  4. Apply a store-bought stain remover to the affected area and let it sit for at least 10 minutes.
  5. If the stain persists, mix 1 tablespoon of Borax with 1 cup of warm water and dab the mixture onto stain. Let it sit for another 10 minutes before wiping away.
  6. Rinse the area with warm water and blot dry with a clean cloth.

Preventative Tips

  • Always carry white wine vinegar with you in case of an emergency.
  • Keep a spray bottle of white wine vinegar in kitchen to use on stains right away.
  • When possible, use bibs or other types of covers on clothing to prevent spills.
