The best way to tackle a wine stain is to act quickly. Take a clean cloth and gently blot the affected areas. Don’t rub or scrub too hard, as this can push the stain further into the fabric. Keep blotting until no more wine is transferred onto the cloth.
Once you have blotted up as much of the wine as possible, pre-treat the stain with a mild detergent or soap. Be sure to read care label on your clogs first to make sure that the detergent is safe to use. Once you have applied the detergent, let it sit for 5 minutes before moving on to the next step.
Rinse the stained area with cold water. Make sure to get rid of any excess soap or detergent. Repeat this step until the water runs clear.
White vinegar is an effective stain remover. Add a little bit of vinegar to some cold water and stir until evenly mixed. Dip the stained area of your clog into the solution and allow it to soak for 15-20 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
Baking soda is another useful tool when it comes to removing stubborn stains. Make a thick paste of baking soda and water, then spread it over stained area and let it sit for 15 minutes before rinsing off with cold water.
Finally, launder the clogs according to the care instructions. Be sure to use a gentle detergent or mild soap. For extra cleaning power, add a cup of white vinegar to the wash cycle.
