It's important to act fast if you want to get rid of the stain. As soon as you notice spill, take a clean cloth and gently blot at the affected area. Blotting will help to absorb the liquid before it has a chance to set. Don't rub the stain, as this could spread wine further and make it more difficult to remove.
Once you've blotted up as much of the wine as you can, hold the stained area under cold running water. This will help to rinse away some of the remaining liquid. Be sure to use cold water, as hot or warm water can actually set stain.
After rinsing, simply treat the stain with a small amount of detergent or laundry enzymes. Rub the product into the affected area, then allow it to sit for several minutes. When finished, rinse the fabric thoroughly with cold water.
White vinegar can also help to lift the stain. Simply apply a few drops of the vinegar directly onto the affected area. Let the vinegar soak into the fabric for around 5 minutes, then gently rub the area with a clean cloth. Finally, rinse the fabric with cold water once more.
If the stain is still not completely gone you can try putting the chambray shirt in the washing machine. Set the machine to a cold temperature and add a small amount of detergent. Do not use hot water, as this will set the stain even further. Once finished, dry the shirt as normal.
