Things You'll Need:
- Cold water
- White vinegar
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Laundry detergent
Instructions:
- Act quickly. The sooner you start treating the stain, the better chance you have of getting it out.
- Dab excess liquid and blot. Use cold water and blot stain until no more liquid is coming out.
- Mix 1 part white vinegar and 2 parts water in a bowl. Soak a clean cloth or paper towel in the mixture, then gently rub the stained area.
- Rinse with cold water. Blot the area again to remove the vinegar-water mixture.
- If the stain doesn't come out with just vinegar and water, mix 1 part hydrogen peroxide (3%) and 2 parts water in a bowl. Soak a clean cloth or paper towel in the mixture, then gently rub the stained area.
- Test the peroxide solution for colorfastness. Before soaking the entire area, dab a small amount of the solution onto an inconspicuous area to make sure it won’t discolor the fabric.
- Once the stain is gone, rinse the area with cold water and blot again.
- Apply laundry detergent directly to the stain. Rub it into the fabric and leave it for 15 minutes.
- Rinse area with cold water again, then launder the garment as usual.
Tips:
- Always test the cleaning solutions on a hidden area of the fabric first.
- If the stain still remains after laundering, repeat the above steps.
- When laundering, use cold water and set the cycle to gentle.
