What You Need

  • A dry cloth
  • Salt
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Liquid detergent

Instructions

  1. Blot stain with a dry cloth. Gently dab the stain to soak up as much of the liquid as you can.
  2. Sprinkle salt over the stain to help draw out the white wine.
  3. Mix one part white vinegar with one part cold water and gently dab the mixture onto the stain using a cloth. Blot until the stain is no longer visible.
  4. If the stain persists, make a paste using baking soda and water. Apply the paste to stain and let it sit for two hours. Then rinse with cold water.
  5. Apply a few drops of liquid detergent directly onto the stain and rub it gently into the fabric. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
  6. Rinse the area with cold water and then blot the excess moisture with a dry cloth.

Tips and Tricks

  • If the stain was not removed completely, repeat the steps until it is gone.
  • It’s important to act quickly when dealing with white wine stains. The faster you address a stain, the better chance you have of removing it completely.
  • If you are unable to remove the stain right away, put cardigan in the freezer until you are able to address it.
