What You’ll Need

  • Gently bar soap
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda

Step One: Soap & Water

Start by blotting the stain with a damp cloth. Don’t rub it or you may push the stain further into the fabric. Then take your bar soap and add a bit of warm water–not too much though–to create a paste. Rub the paste onto the stain in circular motions and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.

Step Two: White Vinegar & Baking Soda

Once the paste has sat for a few minutes, mix together white vinegar and baking soda into a bowl. The ratio should be one part vinegar to two parts baking soda. Apply the mixture to the stain and let it fizzle for about 5 minutes.

Step Three: Rinse & Repeat

After the fizzing stops, give the fabric a final rinse with warm water. If the stain isn't completely gone, you can repeat the process with either the paste or the vinegar and baking soda mixture. Be sure to test the fabric before applying any cleaning solutions to avoid causing damage.

Final Thoughts

Cleaning wine stains from blouses doesn't have to be a challenge. Armed with right tools and cleaning methods, you can conquer those pesky spots in no time. Don’t worry and don’t give up on your favorite blouse--you’ve got this!
