Step 1: Blot or Soak Up The Stain

First, use a paper towel or cloth to blot up as much of the spilled wine as possible. If the stain is still very fresh, you can even soak up some of the wine with paper towel or cloth.

Step 2: Rinse With Cold Water

Rinse stained area with cold water, working from the outside of the stain towards the center. This will help to drag more of wine away from the fabric.

Step 3: Spray White Vinegar Onto The Stain

Now, spray stained area of your backpack with white vinegar and let sit for several minutes. The acidity in vinegar will help to neutralize the red pigments in the wine, making them easier to remove.

Step 4: Use A Clean Cloth To Rub The Stain Away

Using a clean cloth, rub gently at stain until it starts to disappear. You may need to work at it for several minutes, but persistence will pay off!

Step 5: Rinsing and Drying

When the stain has been removed, rinse the area with cold water again and then pat dry with a towel. Finally, lay your backpack flat to air dry.

Tips For Preventing White Wine Stains

  • Always carry extra paper towels or cloths with you in case of an emergency.
  • Avoid placing your backpack directly on the ground during social gatherings.
  • Keep a small bottle of white vinegar on hand for quick stain removal.
