Before beginning cleaning process, you first need to remove your watch battery if there is one. Depending on the type of watch you own, some watches come with a removable battery while others may require a professional watchmaker to remove the battery. Additionally, you will want to take apart watch casing in order to get to parts of the watch that are more difficult to reach. Do so carefully and make sure to remember which pieces go where so that you can easily put the watch back together once you’re done cleaning.
Using a damp cloth and warm water, wipe off any remaining vomit residue. Make sure to be gentle as to not damage the delicate mechanisms inside the watch. After you have removed all of the residue, rinse the watch off with warm water. This helps to clean away any remaining particles before continuing the cleaning process.
Once the watch has been rinsed, apply a small amount of mild, non-abrasive detergent to the affected area. Work the detergent in with a soft cloth and rinse the watch with warm water. Repeat this process as necessary making sure to be mindful of the delicate internal components of the watch. Be sure to rinse the watch thoroughly to remove all traces of detergent.
Once the watch is rinsed, let the watch air-dry or gently pat the watch down with a towel. Then, use a soft cloth to buff the watch and to give it a polished shine. Once finished, reassemble the watch and replace the battery.
