What You'll Need

  • Old toothbrush
  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • White cloth
  • Sponge
  • Cold water

Step 1: Rinse Stain Immediately

As soon as you notice a vomit stain on your underwear, rinse it off with cold water before you attempt to remove it. This will help prevent stain from becoming set in fabric.

Step 2: Create a Stain Removal Solution

Create a cleaning solution by mixing together a teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent, a tablespoon of white vinegar, and a cup of cold water. Stir the mixture together until it’s well combined.

Step 3: Soak the Stain

Soak your underwear in the solution for about 15 minutes. Be sure to press the mixture into the stain with your fingers, then let the fabric sit.

Step 4: Scrub the Stain

Take an old toothbrush and lightly scrub the spot until the stain lifts out from fabric. Don’t use too much pressure or you may damage your underwear.

Step 5: Rinse and Repeat

After you’ve scrubbed the stain out, rinse the area with cold water. You can repeat the steps above if stain is not completely removed.

Step 6: Treat the Stain With Baking Soda

If the stain is still present after you’ve repeated the steps above, it’s time to move onto baking soda. Sprinkle baking soda onto the area and let it sit for 15 minutes before rinsing it away with cold water. The baking soda should help lift out any remaining stain.

Step 7: Wash Your Underwear

Once you have successfully removed stain from your underwear, you can proceed to washing them as normal. Be sure to double check the stain to make sure it’s gone before putting your underwear in dryer.

Step 8: Launder

When thoroughly washed, you can place your underwear in the dryer for the final drying process. Make sure the temperature is set to low.

Conclusion

Vomit stains don’t have to be a problem. With a few simple steps, you can quickly and easily remove them. Just remember to rinse off the area immediately, create a stain removal solution, scrub the garment, rinse and repeat when necessary, treat the stain with baking soda, and finally, launder the item as usual. Before you know it, your underwear will be free of vomit stains.
