As soon as you notice the stain, start rinsing it gently with cold water. This will help prevent the vomit from sinking further into the fibers of the fabric. Avoid scrubbing or rubbing too hard, as this could damage fabric.
Mix a small amount of gentle detergent with warm water in a basin or sink and soak your garment for 20 minutes. If the stain is particularly stubborn, use a soft brush or cloth to gently agitate the detergent solution and help break up the stain.
After soaking the garment for 20 minutes, rinse it thoroughly with cold water to remove any soap or detergent residue. Pay special attention to area around the stain.
Mix 2 tablespoons of borax powder with a cup of warm water and apply this mixture directly to the stained area. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.
Mix 1 tablespoon of ammonia with a cup of warm water and apply this mixture to the stained area. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes, then rinse with cold water.
If the stain persists after the previous steps, mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with a cup of warm water and apply this mixture to the stain. Allow it to sit for 15 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
After treating the stain with the techniques above, launder the garment in your washing machine as usual. Keep an eye on the stain to ensure it has been completely removed before drying.
With the right techniques, removing vomit stains from t-shirts can be relatively easy. Add some extra steps to your laundry routine and you should have no problem handling these pesky stains.
