The first step in removing vomit stains from your trench coat is to remove any solids from affected area. Use a blunt knife or spoon to scrape off any solid matter, then blot the area with a cloth or paper towel. If you want to be extra careful, you can use a color-safe bleach solution to pre-treat the stain.
Once solids are removed and pre-treatment has been applied, it's time to tackle stain. Start by preparing a cleaning solution of 1/2 teaspoon of mild detergent and 1 quart of lukewarm water. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and dab it directly onto stain. Scrub the fabric gently in a circular motion, then rinse cloth in cold water and repeat the process until the stain has been removed.
If vomit stain remains, you can try dabbing the area with rubbing alcohol or vinegar, both of which can help break down the proteins in the vomit that cause the stain. Once you've treated the stain with one of these solutions, rewash the garment using a regular laundry cycle.
If stain still won't go away, it's best to take your trench coat to a professional cleaner who can use advanced stain removal techniques. With the right treatment, you can get your trench coat looking brand new again!
