No parent likes to deal with the mess of vomit, especially when it's on their child's favorite toy. The good news is that cleaning it up doesn't have to be as scary or stressful as it sounds. With the right supplies and helpful tips, you can quickly and effectively remove vomit stains from your child's toys.

Things You'll Need:

  • Borax
  • White vinegar
  • Towel
  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • Soft cloth

Steps for Cleaning Vomit Stains from Toys

  1. First, remove any excess vomit from toy. If the toy is machine washable, you can put it in the washing machine on a short delicate cycle and cold water. If the toy isn't able to be machine washed, use a damp towel to gently remove the vomit.
  2. Once excess vomit has been removed, mix together a solution of 1/2 cup Borax, 1/2 cup white vinegar, and 3 cups warm water. Dip a soft cloth into the solution and gently dab onto vomit-stained area until stain is gone.
  3. If the vomit stain is still visible after using the Borax-vinegar mixture, mix together a solution of 1 tablespoon liquid laundry detergent and 3 cups warm water. Use a soft cloth to dab solution onto the stained area until the stain is completely gone.
  4. Once all of the vomit stain is gone, rinse the toy in cold water and pat dry with a towel. Let it air dry before returning it to your child.

Tips:

  • It may take several applications of the Borax-vinegar mixture and detergent solution to completely remove the vomit stain.
  • Always read the label on toy to make sure it is safe to use Borax, vinegar, or detergent on it.
  • Be sure to air dry the toy completely before returning it to your child.
