1. Clean the Stain Immediately with Cold Water

When it comes to removing tough stains, time is of the essence. As soon as possible, take off the top and give it a rinse in cold water. Doing so can help remove most of the vomit before it has a chance to set onto the fabric.

2. Use an Enzyme Detergent

Enzyme Detergents contain special enzymes that break down complex molecules found in bodily fluids like sweat, urine, and—you guessed it—vomit. Choose a detergent that indicates it contains these enzymes and start by rubbing a small amount directly onto the vomit spot.

3. Soak the Top in Dark Vinegar

Dark vinegar is an amazing substance for cleaning stubborn stains like vomit. Soak the top in a mixture of dark vinegar and cold water for at least 30 minutes, or overnight if possible. When you take top out, the stain should be gone or significantly reduced in size.

4. Apply a Paste of Baking Soda and Vinegar

For smaller stains, it’s sometimes easier to apply a paste made of baking soda and vinegar rather than soaking the entire top. Start by mixing enough baking soda with vinegar to make a paste. Rub this paste into the stain and leave it for at least 10 minutes before washing.

5. Scrub with Toothpaste

Believe it or not, regular toothpaste can be used to remove vomit stains. Start by dampening area with a sponge or cloth. Then, rub a small amount of toothpaste directly onto the stain. Scrub lightly with a soft-bristled brush or cloth. Then, launder the top in the machine.
