Pre-Treat the Stain

Before attempting to wash stained t-shirt, it is important to pre-treat the area to help break down the stain. Use a cloth to dab some cold water on the affected area, then spread a film of liquid detergent or a few drops of dishwashing liquid over the spilled vomit. Gently rub the detergent into the fabric with a soft scrub brush in a circular motion.

Wash the T-Shirt

Once the vomit has been pre-treated, it is time to put the t-shirt in the washing machine, ideally with similar colors. To help ensure all of the vomit is washed away, set the water temperature to warm and use a heavy-duty detergent, such as Tide. If you have any other stains on the shirt that need to be removed, add a scoop of baking soda to the washing machine, which will help to lift out the stain.

Dry the T-Shirt

After the t-shirt has been washed, it is important to dry it completely before wearing or storing. Hang the t-shirt to air dry if possible and avoid using a dryer if the vomit stain is still visible. If all traces of the vomit stain have been successfully removed, put the t-shirt in the dryer and set the temperature to low.
