Start by rinsing the vomit stain with cool or lukewarm water. Hold the stained area under the water for at least 10 minutes. This helps to flush out the excess vomit and neutralize the odor. If possible, use a spray bottle to thoroughly soak the area.
The next step is to apply a stain removing detergent to the area. Make sure detergent is designed specifically for removing protein-based stains like vomit. Work the detergent into fabric with a toothbrush, scrubbing gently in a circular motion. Leave the detergent on the fabric for several minutes before rinsing it off.
Vinegar can be beneficial for removing vomit stains from swim trunks. Mix a solution of equal parts vinegar and warm water and use a spray bottle to saturate the area with solution. Allow it to sit for about 15 minutes before blotting away any remaining liquid.
After completing the steps above, wash and dry the swim trunks according to the manufacturer's instructions. Hang drying is the preferred method when possible, as it helps to avoid fading or shrinking. If the vomit stain still remains, you may need to repeat the process one more time.
Follow these simple steps to keep swim trunks looking their best and free of vomit stains.
