  • Dish soap or laundry detergent
  • Enzyme-based pet odor remover (optional)

How to Clean Vomit Stains from Sweaters

  1. As soon as the accident occurs, blot away vomit with a paper towel or cloth.
  2. Run cold water through back side of stain and gently rub the fabric together.
  3. Mix a solution of one teaspoon of dish soap or laundry detergent in one quart of cold water.
  4. Soak the stained area in solution for 30 minutes. Do not use hot water, as it could set stain.
  5. Gently rub the fabric together and rinse it with cold water.
  6. If the stain remains, apply an enzyme-based pet odor remover, and let it sit for five minutes before rinsing it out.
  7. Once the stain is completely gone, machine wash the garment with cold water.
