What You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • Water
  • Sponge or soft cloth
  • Washing machine (optional)

How to Clean the Stain

  1. Using a sponge, wipe away as much of the vomit as possible.
  2. Mix 1 tablespoon of dish soap with 2 tablespoons of white vinegar and 1 quart of warm water.
  3. Using a sponge, dip it into the cleaning solution and gently scrub the vomit stain.
  4. Rinse the fabric with clean water.
  5. If the stain remains, repeat steps 2-4 until the stain is gone.
  6. If the stain is still there, you can try washing the fabric in washing machine. Place fabric in a lingerie bag and choose a gentle cycle, then air dry.

Additional Tips

  • Always test the cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area of the fabric first to make sure it won't cause discoloration.
  • Cleaning silk too often can be damaging, so it's important to use the gentlest solution and method possible.
  • Avoid using bleach on silk as it can permanently damage fabric.
