Start by blotting the stain with a damp, white cloth to help absorb as much of the moisture and solids as possible before any further cleaning. Gently blot the stain until no more liquid can be drawn up using the cloth.
Next, pretreat the area with laundry detergent. Squeeze a small amount of a mild laundry detergent directly onto the stain and let it soak in for five minutes. Rinse gently with lukewarm water, and then blot dry.
Create a suds bath by mixing a tablespoon of shampoo with one cup of lukewarm water. Submerge the soiled item in the bath for about 10 minutes. Rinse the garment thoroughly with lukewarm water, and if needed, apply a second application of the shampoo mixture. After washing, rinse again with lukewarm water.
It’s very important that you rinse item of clothing several times to make sure all of the soap residue is removed. When rinsing, begin with cold water and slowly move to warmer water until you reach lukewarm temperatures. Be sure to rinse until there are no suds left.
Let the item air dry and once it is completely dry examine the area for any remaining stains. If any remain, repeat each step until stain is gone.
