How to Take Care of Vomit Stains on Silk Chiffon with Ease

Step 1: Blot the Stain
The first step to getting rid of vomit stain is to blot it or absorb as much vomit as possible out of the fabric. The best way to do this is by using a paper towel or clean cloth. Work inwards, starting from the outside of the stain and working your way in, to ensure you don’t spread the vomit onto a larger area of silk chiffon.
Step 2: Pre-treating the Stain
To pre-treat stain, mix a solution of 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, and 2 cups of warm water. Apply this directly onto spot and let it sit for 5 minutes. At this point, the spot should be visibly smaller.
Step 3: Put the Silk Chiffon in Washing Machine
After pre-treating the stain, put your silk chiffon in the washing machine on the gentlest cycle. If possible, use cold water. When the cycle is complete, immediately remove the silk chiffon from the washing machine and transfer it to dryer. Tumble dry the fabric on low heat for 15 minutes. If you are unsure about the fabric’s heat tolerance, it's best to air dry the fabric and go for a professional dry cleaning option instead.
Step 4: Check for Remaining Stains
Once the fabric is out of dryer, check for remaining spots or stains and repeat the process if necessary. If the vomiting has been caused by a pet, you may also want to consider separating the silk chiffon from the rest of your laundry or having it washed in a separate load.
