Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Before you get started, make sure you have all the necessary supplies to hand. These include:

  • Laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Clean sponge
  • Large bucket
  • Old toothbrush

Step 2: Blot Stain

Using a clean sponge, blot the vomit stain with warm water as soon as possible to soak up as much of the vomit as you can. Do not rub or scrub the stain, as this will only make matters worse.

Step 3: Make a Paste

Mix together two tablespoons of baking soda and two tablespoons of laundry detergent until it forms a paste. Apply the paste directly to the vomit stained area and let it sit for at least 15 minutes.

Step 4: Rinse the Stain

Rinse the stain gently with cool water. For tough spots, use an old toothbrush to help remove any remaining vomit residue. Then rinse again with cool water and blot the area with a clean cloth.

Step 5: Add Vinegar

Fill a large bucket with cool water and add ½ cup of white vinegar. Place your sari in the bucket and let it soak for 30 minutes.

Step 6: Wash and Dry

Remove your sari from the mixture and wash it in your washing machine, on the normal cycle, along with some other clothes. Then hang it or tumble dry it, as per usual.

Conclusion

As you can see, with the right supplies, it's possible to clean a vomit stain from a sari in no time. Try out these steps and you'll be able to keep your sari looking like new, even after the worst stains.
