Start by blotting the stained area with a paper towel or cloth. Be sure not to rub the stain as this will only spread it. After you have blotted excess vomit, begin soaking the rash guard in cold water. Allow it to sit for about 30 minutes to loosen stain.
Once the garment has finished soaking, rub a few drops of dish soap into the affected area. This will help lift any oils and proteins that may be present from the vomit, making it easier to remove. After applying the soap, rinse the garment in cold water until the soap is completely gone.
For more difficult stains, a little hydrogen peroxide may be needed. Simply mix one part hydrogen peroxide with one part water and apply it directly to the stain. Let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse with cold water. Repeat this process until the stain is gone.
After the stain is gone, launder the rash guard as usual. Be sure to use a color-safe detergent to ensure the fabric remains intact. Once it's finished in washing machine, allow it to air dry or place it in the dryer on lowest setting.
Cleaning vomit stains from rash guard is not a fun task, but with a few simple steps it can be done quickly and easily. Remember to start with blotting and soaking the garment, then use dish soap and possibly hydrogen peroxide for tough stains. Finish off by laundering as usual and you'll have your rash guard looking brand new in no time.
