What You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • Baking soda
  • Laundry detergent
  • White cloth
  • Clean rags/sponges
  • Ink remover marker (optional)

Step 1: Soak Up Vomit

Using a clean rag or sponge, firmly press down on stained area to soak up as much of the vomit as possible. Keep pressing and dabbing until most of the vomit is absorbed.

Step 2: Pre-Treat Stain with Vinegar

Pour a generous amount of white vinegar onto the stained area. Let the vinegar sit for several minutes, then dab it off with a cloth. This will act as a pre-treatment and help loosen the stain so it's easier to remove.

Step 3: Apply Dish Soap

Using a clean cloth, apply a small amount of dish soap to the stain. Rub cloth in a circular motion, applying light pressure. The dish soap will help break down the vomit particles and lift the stain from the fabric.

Step 4: Rinse the Stained Area

Fill a bowl with lukewarm water, then bring it near the stain. Dip the cloth you used to treat the stain into the bowl of water, wring it out, and use it to rinse the stained area. Keep rinsing until all of the soap residue is gone.

Step 5: Sprinkle Baking Soda

Sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda over the stained area. Use your fingers to work the baking soda into the fabric. This will help further remove any remaining vomit particles and lift the stain from fabric.

Step 6: Wash in the Machine

Once you're satisfied that stain has been removed, put your pullover in the washing machine. Add a scoop of laundry detergent, and set machine to a cold cycle. When the cycle is finished, hang the pullover up to air dry.

Step 7: Check the Stained Area

Once pullover is dry, check the stained area to make sure the vomit stain is gone. If you still see traces of the stain, repeat Steps 1-6 until it's gone. If there's still a faint stain, you can use an ink remover marker to remove it.

Conclusion

By following these simple steps, you can successfully remove vomit stains from your pullover and restore it to its former glory. With just a few items from your pantry and some elbow grease, you'll have your pullover looking as good as new!
