Step 1: Start with a Blotting Technique

Begin by gently blotting the stained area of the fabric with a soft, damp cloth or paper towels. This will help remove any excess vomit that is lying on the surface of the material. Continue this until you’ve removed as much as possible. Do not rub the fabric in order to avoid spreading the stain.

Step 2: Pre-Treat with a Stain Remover

Next, use a stain remover specifically formulated for removing vomit stains. If you don’t have any specialized products, you can use a mild detergent mixed with lukewarm water. Take a damp cloth and using an up-and-down motion, gently scrub the area of the fabric that has been stained. After scrubbing for about 15 seconds, let pre-treater sit for 5 minutes.

Step 3: Rinse with Cold Water

Once the pre-treater has had time to work, rinse the area of the fabric with cold water. You may need to repeat this process several times in order to ensure all residue has been removed. It is important to be sure to use cold water as hot water can set stain.

Step 4: Wash in the Machine

Finally, it is time to wash the pongee fabric in the washing machine. Set the machine on a gentle cycle and use a mild detergent. Once the cycle has finished, check the fabric to be sure that the stain has been lifted.
