In order to clean the vomit stain from piqué, you should pre-treat the stain as soon as you notice it with a mild detergent or laundry pre-spotter. For this step, you don’t need any special tools or supplies.
Once you’ve pre-treated the vomit stain, you’ll need to find right detergent that works with your piqué fabric. Invest in a detergent specifically designed for delicate fabrics such as wool, silk, and cotton blends. This type of detergent should safely remove stains and odours without damaging the delicate fabric.
Once you’ve found the right detergent, it’s time to wash the item in cold water. Cold water helps to prevent stain from setting in, so it’s important that you use cold water to get the best results. Make sure to turn the item inside out first before washing it.
After washing, you want to hang your item in the sun to let it dry. The sun’s UV rays help to further break down the stain and help to freshen up the fabric. Once it’s dry, majority of the stain should be gone. However, if the stain is still visible, you may need to repeat the process until the stain is completely gone.
It’s always better to be safe than sorry, so when it comes to dealing with vomit stains on your piqué fabric clothing, err on side of caution. If you’re unsure whether an item can handle being washed and dried in the sun, take it to a dry cleaner instead.
