The first thing to do is act fast. The sooner you start the cleaning process, the easier it will be to remove vomit stains. Begin by using a paper towel or soft cloth to wipe away any large chunks of vomit that may be present. Blot stain gently and make sure not to spread it further.
Fill a bucket or basin with warm water and add a few capfuls of laundry detergent. Soak stained area for at least 30 minutes. Make sure you do not rub material, as this could spread stain further.
Once the spot has soaked, you can begin to scrub it. Using a soft brush, gently scrub the stained area until the vomit stain is no longer visible. Rinse the area thoroughly with warm water and blot dry with a clean cloth or paper towels.
If the stain is still present, you can use a diluted solution of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Mix about one teaspoon of baking soda with two teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide. Apply mixture to the stained area and let it sit for 30 minutes. Rinse well and let air dry.
Another trick that can help lift vomit stains is to use white vinegar. Fill a spray bottle with undiluted white vinegar and spray the stained area until it is completely saturated. Allow the vinegar to soak for 15 minutes, then scrub gently with a soft brush and rinse with warm water.
Once you have removed the vomit stain, it is important to machine-wash the garment immediately. Use a mild laundry detergent and a cold or warm (not hot) water setting. It is also important to air dry your pajamas or other garments, as heat can set the stains.
Vomit stains are never fun, but don't worry – they can be easily removed if you act quickly. With a few simple steps, you can get rid of those pesky stains and get your pajamas back to looking like new!
