Step 1: Blot Stain

The first step in removing a vomit stain from nylon is to blot up as much of vomit as possible with a clean, white cloth. Use gentle pressure and don’t scrub, as this can cause the stain to set more deeply into the material.

Step 2: Treat with Detergent

Mix a solution of mild soap and lukewarm water. Apply the mixture to the stain and let it soak for 10-15 minutes. After soaking, gently blot area with a clean, white towel.

Step 3: Rinse With Cold Water

Rinse the affected area with cold water and continue to blot with the towel until all traces of soapy solution are removed. Be sure not to scrub or rub the area as this can cause the stain to set further.

Step 4: Use Vinegar Solution

Make a solution of one part white vinegar and three parts water. Soak a clean cloth in solution and apply it to the stain. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes before blotting area dry.

Step 5: Launder as Normal

Once the stain has been removed, wash nylon item as you normally would. You may wish to add an extra tablespoon of oxygen bleach or color-safe bleach to give the fabric a brighter and cleaner look.
