Start by using a cloth to blot the area gently, working from the outside edge towards center of the stain. This will help lift the stain without spreading it further. If possible, rinse the cloth in cold water between blots, as this will help release the stain from fibers.
To prepare for deep cleaning, pre-treat the affected area with a quality laundry detergent. Gently rub the detergent into the fabric, then let it sit for 15-30 minutes before rinsing. This should help loosen up stain, making it easier to remove when you move on to the next step.
With the stain loosened, you can begin spot cleaning with either white vinegar or hydrogen peroxide. Pour a small amount directly onto the stain, and use a soft brush to scrub the area until the stain begins to lift. Rinse with cold water and repeat if necessary.
Once the stain has been treated, you can finish the process by machine washing the affected area in cold water, using a mild detergent. Let the item dry naturally and inspect for any lingering stains once it's complete.
