Begin by blotting the stain with a towel or paper towel. Use a gentle dabbing motion to absorb as much liquid as possible. Do not scrub or rub the fabric, as it may damage the delicate fibers. The goal is to remove as much of the vomit as possible without causing any damage to the fabric.
Once you’ve blotted the stain, mix together a solution of warm water and a mild detergent. Soak a clean cloth in mixture and use it to pre-treat the stain by blotting it lightly. Allow the detergent to sit for several minutes before proceeding to the next step.
Rinse away the detergent by gently blotting fabric with a damp cloth. Use cold water and make sure to blot the fabric until all of the detergent has been removed.
Choose a specialty stain remover specifically formulated to treat vomit stains. Follow directions on the package to apply the product to the fabric, then let it sit for the recommended amount of time. If the product requires rinsing, rinse the fabric with cold water.
Finally, wash the fabric according to the label instructions using the hottest temperature setting that is safe for the fabric. Allow the fabric to air dry or tumble dry on lowest heat setting.
Vomit stains on jacquard fabrics can be tricky to remove but with right product and procedure, it doesn't have to be an impossible task. Remember to pre-treat the stain with a mild detergent and then use a specialty stain remover to get rid of the remaining residue. Finally, wash the fabric in the washing machine and air dry or tumble dry on a low heat setting and your fabric should look good as new!
