If it's still wet, the first step is to rinse it with cold water as soon as possible. Then, fill your sink with cold water and add 2 teaspoons of laundry detergent. Soak the hoodie in the solution for 30 minutes and then rinse it with cold water. Air dry your hoodie to prevent any additional damage.
Before you begin, check the care instructions on the hoodie to ensure that it can withstand washing with baking soda. If not, skip this step! Then mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 2 cups of warm water and apply the solution onto the vomit stain. Let it sit for 15 minutes before rinsing it off, and then air dry as usual.
For persistent vomit stains, try soaking the hoodie in a mix of vinegar and warm water. Make sure hoodie is completely submerged and let it sit for 1-2 hours. After, rinse the hoodie with cold water and throw it in the washer with regular laundry detergent. Air dry as usual.
If all else fails, using a commercial stain remover might be your best bet. Be sure to read product’s instructions carefully and follow all safety guidelines. When you’re finished, rinse hoodie with cold water and air dry.
Cleaning vomit from a hoodie may be a daunting task, but it's possible. Whether you opt for cold water and laundry detergent, baking soda, vinegar or a commercial stain remover, you should be able to remove the stain with patience and care.
