What You'll Need

  • Cool water
  • Neutral detergent
  • White cloth or paper towel
  • Vinegar

Instructions

  1. Blot up as much liquid as possible. Use a white cloth or paper towel and press down firmly.
  2. Rinse the fabric with cool water. Make sure not to rub the vomit stain; instead, hold the fabric under the running water for about three minutes.
  3. Create a cleaning solution. In a separate bowl, mix 1 teaspoon of neutral detergent with 1 quart of cool water.
  4. Saturate the stain in the cleaning solution. Allow it to soak for 15 minutes. After the stain has been soaked, blot off any remaining liquid with white cloth or paper towel.
  5. Rinse spot with cool water. Again, do not rub the area. Hold the fabric underneath running water for two minutes.
  6. Mix vinegar with water. Create a solution by mixing together equal parts of vinegar and cool water.
  7. Spray the mixture onto stain. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes.
  8. Rinse the fabric with cool water. Gently squeeze out all of the liquid after rinsing. Wash the fabric with cold water in the washing machine.

Tips

  • Always use cool or cold water when cleaning vomit stains from fabric.
  • Never use hot water, as this can set the stain in.
  • Make sure to use only a neutral detergent, such as Woolite.
  • Do not rub the stain; instead, gently blot it and rinse it.
