Gather Your Supplies

Before you get started, make sure you’ve got supplies needed to tackle the job:

  • Paper towels
  • Stiff scrub brush
  • Dish soap
  • Water
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda

Prepare Area

Lay down some old newspaper or paper towels on the floor where you’ll be cleaning. This will help catch any excess water and will help make the process easier.

Remove Loose Particles

If possible, take the shoes outside and give them a good shake to remove any excess vomit or other particles. Use a stiff scrub brush to loosen any stuck-on debris.

Scrub the Shoes Down

Mix together a solution of equal parts dish soap and warm water. Dip scrub brush into the solution and work it into the affected area. Make sure to scrub the entire shoe with the solution to remove any vomit residue.

Rinse with Water

Rinse shoes thoroughly with warm water to remove all traces of the soap. If there are still some stubborn stains left behind, try mixing up a solution of one part white vinegar with two parts warm water. Dip a clean cloth into this solution and use it to spot-treat the affected area.

Eliminate Odors

Mix together equal parts baking soda and warm water. This solution can be used to help eliminate stubborn odors. Dip a clean cloth or brush into the mixture and use it to scrub the shoes. Allow the solution to sit on the shoes for a few minutes before rinsing off with warm water.

Dry Shoes Thoroughly

Air dry your shoes outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Do not put wet shoes in the dryer as they may shrink or be damaged.
