Steps for Cleaning Vomit Stains from Down Jackets

  • Scrape off as much of the vomit stain as possible with a dull knife or spoon. Be sure to scrape gently so you don’t damage the fabric.
  • Create a cleaning solution using 1 teaspoon of detergent, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, and 1 quart of lukewarm water. Stir the solution to combine.
  • Dip a clean cloth into the solution and apply gently to stain. Don’t scrub or rub too hard, as it can cause damage to the fabric.
  • Allow the area to sit for about 10 minutes before blotting the area with a dry cloth.
  • Rinse the area with cold water and blot again with a dry cloth.
  • If the stain persists, repeat the process until the stain is completely gone.

Tips for Removing Vomit Stains from Down Jackets

  • Be sure to test any materials used for cleaning on an inconspicuous area of the jacket first.
  • Stains should be treated as soon as possible as they can become more difficult to remove over time.
  • When in doubt, take the item to a professional cleaner to ensure it is cleaned properly.
