Double georgette fabric is delicate and difficult to clean, especially when a vomit stain has set in. However, you don’t have to throw away your item or resign yourself to living with the stain. With the following steps and materials, you can safely and effectively remove stain.

Materials Needed

  • Newspaper or absorbent cloth
  • Cold water
  • Mild detergent with no bleach
  • White vinegar
  • Liquid dish soap
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Ammonia

Steps

  1. Lay out the affected garment on top of newspaper or an absorbent cloth.
  2. Gently scrape off any solid particles with a spoon or the edge of a knife. Do not rub the area.
  3. Rinse stain with cold water for about two minutes to help remove as much residual vomit as possible.
  4. Dab at the wet area with a damp rag, being careful not to spread the stain further.
  5. Mix together a solution of one cup mild detergent, one tablespoon white vinegar, and two cups cold water.
  6. Saturate a portion of a white rag with solution, then apply it to the vomit stain. Allow it to soak in for five to ten minutes.
  7. Rinse the area with cold water, again avoiding the temptation to rub it.
  8. Create a new solution of one part liquid dish soap, one part hydrogen peroxide, and two parts cold water.
  9. Soak a white rag in the new solution and lay it over the vomit stain. Allow it to remain in place for five minutes.
  10. Remove the rag, rinse the area with cold water, and allow it to air-dry.
  11. If stain persists, mix together one tablespoon ammonia and one cup cold water and dab it onto stain. Allow it to sit for five minutes, then rinse with cold water.
