Things You'll Need

  • Cold Water
  • Mild Detergent
  • White Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Dryer

Step 1: Blot the Stain With Cold Water

As soon as you notice the vomit stain, use a paper towel to blot it with cold water. Make sure you remove as much of the excess moisture as possible.

Step 2: Pre-treat the Stain with Mild Detergent

Apply a small amount of mild detergent onto the fabric and rub it gently onto stain. Let it sit for five minutes and then rinse it off with cold water.

Step 3: Soak the Fabric in White Vinegar

Fill a bowl with cold water and add ½ cup of white vinegar. Soak affected area for thirty minutes and then gently scrub with a soft cloth. Rinse off with cold water.

Step 4: Pre-treat the Stain with Baking Soda

Mix a tablespoon of baking soda with two tablespoons of water. Rub the mixture on the stain and let it sit for fifteen minutes. Rinse off with cold water.

Step 5: Treat the Stain with Hydrogen Peroxide

Mix one part hydrogen peroxide with two parts water. Pour the solution on the stain and let it sit for five minutes. Rinse off with cold water again.

Step 6: Put the Fabric in the Dryer

Once the vomit stain has been removed, put the fabric in the dryer on low heat until dry. This will help to set the fabric and prevent the stain from reappearing.

Tips

  • Always test the cleaning solution on a hidden area of the fabric before applying it directly onto the stain.
  • Make sure to use cold water throughout the entire process.
  • Take the fabric to a professional cleaner if the stain does not come out after following these steps.
