When dealing with vomit stains, it is important to act fast. Firstly, try to completely remove any excess vomit from the fabric before starting the cleaning process. Use paper towels or a scrap of fabric to blot out as much vomit from the charmeuse fabric as possible. Once area has been blotted, fill a sink with cold water and use a mild detergent or mild soap to create a cleaning solution. Submerge soiled fabric in the solution and let it soak for 15-20 minutes before gently squeezing to remove some of the residual vomit. Rinse the fabric in clean cold water then lay the garments flat on a clean towel and roll up to absorb the remaining moisture.
Next, pretreat area using a specialized stain remover. Check instructions to make sure that the remover is suitable for charmeuse fabrics, then apply it directly to the stain. Follow instructions on the packaging, and if necessary, use a soft bristle brush to help work the cleaning solution into the fabric. Rinse the fabric in cold water again and then soak in a vinegar solution for 15-20 minutes to remove any remaining traces of the stain. Finally, rinse the fabric in cold water one last time and then hang it up to air dry.
With this method, you can successfully remove almost all vomitus stains on charmeuse fabrics. The key is to act fast, and follow instructions carefully when using any detergents and pretreating solutions.
