As soon as possible, use paper towels or an absorbent cloth to blot up any excess vomit from the fabric of the capris. Keep blotting until no more vomit can be removed from the fabric.
Mix a solution of cold water and white vinegar in a bowl. Place stained area of the capris in the bowl and allow them to soak for a few minutes. This step is key as it helps lift the vomit out of the fabric fibres.
Once the capris have been soaked in the vinegar solution for a few minutes, sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda over the area. Gently rub baking soda into the fabric using a soft-bristled brush. Allow baking soda to sit on the stain for 30 minutes and then rinse area with cold water.
After rinsing the area with cold water, rinse the capris thoroughly in the sink. If the stain is still visible, repeat Steps 2 & 3 before washing the capris as you normally would. Use a mild detergent and cold water to preserve the colour of fabric.
Once the capris have been washed, inspect area to ensure the stain has been removed. If stain is still present, repeat the steps above. When the stain has been successfully removed, hang the capris to dry.
Cleaning vomit stains from delicate fabrics such as capris can seem daunting, but with the right instructions and cleaning materials, it’s easier than you think! Hopefully, you found these steps helpful and are now able to return your favourite capris to their former glory.
