The first step to getting rid of a vomit stain on canvas is to blot it dry with a paper towel or cloth. You want to remove as much moisture as you can so that the stain doesn’t set in. Remember to work from the outside of the stain in, as this will prevent the stain from spreading further.
Once the surface of stain has been blotted dry, you should pre-treat it with a small amount of laundry detergent. Work the detergent into the stain using a toothbrush, and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off.
Once the pre-treatment has been done, it’s time to wash the item as normal. Make sure to use a mild detergent and lukewarm water, and avoid using any fabric softener as this could make stain worse. For best results, use a gentle cycle and air dry the item instead of putting it in the dryer.
Once the item has been washed and air dried, check for any residue or discoloration left from stain. If there is, treat again with laundry detergent and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing off and washing as normal.
