When it comes to removing vomit stains from fabric, the sooner you take action the better. If you’re in the middle of mess, start by using paper towels to blot up any excess liquid. Blotting will help draw out some of vomit and should be done before attempting to wash the garment.

The next step is to mix one tablespoon of liquid detergent with two cups of cool water. This solution will help break down proteins found in the vomit and should be used to gently sponge area. Repeat this process until spot is no longer visible.

After sponging vomit stain, you'll want to let the garment soak. Use a laundry detergent that is designed to remove tough stains and dissolve any remaining proteins. Fill your sink with lukewarm water and add at least two capfuls of the detergent. Allow your clothing item to sit for up to 30 minutes.

Once the item is done soaking, rinse it off with cold water and then machine wash it. When adding the clothing to the washing machine, be sure to separate it from other garments to keep from accidentally staining them. After washing, check the area to make sure it's free of any stains before throwing it in the dryer.

If you're dealing with dried vomit on your clothing item, fill a spray bottle with warm water and spray it over the affected area. Allow the area to soak for up to 15 minutes. Then use a soft brush to scrub away any remaining debris. Rinse area with cold water and follow the same steps as above to finish cleaning.

You don't have to live in despair because of a vomit stain! As long as you take immediate action, successfully removing the stain isn’t impossible. By following the steps outlined in this article, you should have your favorite bottoms back in tip-top shape in no time.
