Removing vomit stains from battenberg lace can be tricky as the fabric is delicate. But it isn’t impossible if you use the right methods. First, make sure to scrape off any dried vomit residue with a spoon or butter knife, being extra careful not to damage the lace. Once that’s done, follow steps below to get your battenberg lace back to its original condition.

Step 1: Rinse With Cold Water

Rinse the affected area with cold running water. Make sure to rinse from the inside of the garment and follow the direction of the pattern. This step will remove most of vomit from the fabric.

Step 2: Pretreat with a Stain Remover

Select an appropriate stain remover for the fabric material. Most commercial stain removers are effective on battenberg lace. Spray the product directly onto the stained area and let it sit for 3-5 minutes. Do not use bleach or other harsh cleaning chemicals.

Step 3: Hand Wash or Machine Wash

Hand wash the battenberg lace with a mild detergent. Use cold water and do not twist or wring out the fabric. Alternatively, you can machine wash the fabric as long as you set the washing machine to a delicate cycle and use a small amount of detergent.

Step 4: Hang to Dry

Hang garment to air dry away from direct sunlight. Do not put the garment in the dryer as this can damage fabric. Once it’s completely dry, check to see if there are still any traces of vomit. If so, repeat the steps above until it’s gone.
