What You'll Need

  • Soap
  • Soft bristle brush
  • Clean cloths
  • White Vinegar
  • Borax
  • Sponge

Step 1: Blot the Stain

Gently blot the area with a damp cloth to remove any excess varnish or residue.

Step 2: Create a Cleaning Solution

Mix together one teaspoon of mild dish soap with two cups of warm water. Dip soft bristle brush into the cleaning solution and gently scrub over the stained area.

Step 3: Rinse and Repeat

Rinse stained area with the clean cloth. Repeat the scrubbing and rinsing process until stain is no longer visible.

Step 4: Spray With White Vinegar

Spray the stain lightly with white vinegar. Allow the vinegar to sit on stain for several minutes before blotting with a dry cloth.

Step 5: Apply Borax Paste

Mix together one tablespoon of Borax with one tablespoon of warm water. Apply the paste to the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes. Gently scrub over the stain with a sponge and rinse with a clean cloth. Allow the velvet to air dry.
