Removing Varnish Stains from Tussah

  1. Start by testing a small area of your tussah, to make sure it won’t be damaged by your cleaning method. Dab a little bit of acetone, white spirit or paint thinner onto an inconspicuous part of your fabric – if it stains the fabric, do not proceed.
  2. Mix white vinegar with two cups of warm water. Soak a rag into the mixture and wring it out.
  3. Gently blot the stained area with the cloth, working from the outside inward.
  4. Allow the area to air dry.
  5. Vacuum the area when dry to remove excess dirt and dust.
  6. Repeat these steps if necessary.
