When using tents and other camping items, it’s inevitable that you’ll get some varnish stains. Whether from spilled drinks, mud, or something else, these stains can really make your gear look dingy. To restore it back to its original glory, here’s what you need to do.
Tools & Supplies Needed
- Stiff brushes
- Clean white cloths
- Warm water
- Mild cleaning solution
- Mild laundry detergent
Step-by-Step Guide
- Inspect the stains carefully. Try to determine the source of the stains so you can use the most appropriate cleaner. For instance, an oily stain may need different treatment than a mud stain.
- Mix a mild cleaning solution in a bucket, using warm water and either a mild laundry detergent or specially designed tent and camping item cleaner.
- Use the stiff brush to scrub the stained area. Don’t scrub too hard - you don’t want to damage fabric.
- After scrubbing, use the clean white cloth to wipe away cleaning solution. Change cloths often, as the existing cloth might become covered in dirt and debris.
- Once stains are gone, hang up the tent and camping gear to dry completely.
That’s all there is to it! With these easy steps, you’ll be able to clean all varnish stains from your camping equipment and make them look brand new again.
